Hebgen and Quake Lake

Every year Aflac does a summer party for the state.  This year it was at Hebgen Lake, which is over by West Yellowstone.  They had little cabins for us to stay in, and they provided breakfast and dinner everyday.  We decided to invite my parents up with us for some fun, and they were able to come.  It was so much fun.

It was so nice outside.  Not too hot, not to cold.

The kids took a dip in the lake, It wasn't very warm, so it didn't last long, and it was so windy and rocky they needed help.

She had so much fun, she stayed in for quite a while.  I think Grandpa wanted to get out long before she did.

This guy had his dog there that was catching and retrieving a rubber duck.  It was awesome, He was trained so well.

Nobody skips rocks quite like Grandpa.

The one day we drove up the road to Quake Lake and the Visitor's Center they have.  In 1959 there was a 7.5 earthquake here, and it made this whole mountain slide down into the ravine.  It was a camping spot along the Madison River for people visiting Yellowstone.  58 people were killed either underneath the slide or from the force of the winds down further a long the river.  The Visitor's Center has a lot of stories from people that survived or helped.  It's pretty crazy what happened.

The trees stick up all along the river/lake area now.  It's kind of creepy looking.

There were a lot of cabins and houses further down the river that fell into the river from the earthquake.  We hiked down to this one.  (I stayed in the car, I was having quite a few contractions.)

It was a nice spot for fishing too.

That night was the BBQ and games from Aflac.  They always do a huge game of Bingo with prizes.

We had like 2 to 3 cards each and we weren't winning very much. 

Pretty sunsets.  It was so nice at the nights, but the mosquitoes were TERRIBLE!!!  We had to stay inside the cabin AS SOON as the sun went down.  They would even bite through your clothes.  It was bad.

In the morning Dirk put on his Spider-man mask he won, and snuck out and SCARED Grandma and Grandpa sleeping in the living room. HAHA

Dirk LOVED sleeping on the bunk bed all by himself.  He STILL talks about the cabins and wants to go back.

We were so glad Grandma and Grandpa could come and spend the weekend with us.  It was so relaxing and so much fun.  Thanks Aflac for always hosting a fun summer party.

On the way home we stopped at Old Faithful to watch the geyser.

I'm not sure why we keep stopping to watch it.  It's really sort of lame. HAHAH

When we drove into Cody and turned down our street, Dirk started to cry.  "No, I don't want to go home, I want to go to the cabin!!"  He loved it so much.
